Any drawing made by your own child works perfectly — a person, an animal, a creature, a robot, a unicorn, anything they've invented. Crayon, pencil, marker, paint — the medium doesn't matter. The clearer the photo or scan, the better the result.

Our digital ebook (the Little Story) is typically ready within 1 day. Printed books — the Storybook (softcover) and the Royal Tale (hardcover) — are crafted, printed and shipped within 7 to 10 business days across South Africa.

Yes — that's the whole point. Our design team works hard to keep the original drawing's charm intact across every page: the unusual proportions, the wonky smile, the colours your child chose. It's their character, just brought into a fuller world.

Royal Tales is a service for celebrating original drawings created by your own children. Please don't upload artwork that copies or depicts copyrighted characters (Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Pokémon, Nintendo, etc.) — those orders will be refunded and cancelled. Our softcover Storybook and hardcover Royal Tale are printed in a landscape format, perfect for sitting alongside a parent at bedtime. Each page features a full-bleed illustration paired with the story text.

The Little Story is an 8-page digital ebook (PDF) you can print at home — ideal for trying us out or sharing digitally with family.

The Storybook is the same 8-page story, printed as a real softcover book and shipped to your door.

The Royal Tale is our premium hardcover, with your choice of 8 to 20 pages — the keepsake-quality option, made to be on the bookshelf for years.

Every book is personalised with your child's name and a chosen theme from our five lessons (Sharing, Love, Forgiveness, Teamwork, Kindness). You can also add a short personal dedication that appears on a page right after the cover.

An optional message of up to 90 characters that appears on its own page at the front of the book — for example, “For Sophie, with love from Mum and Dad ❤️”. Lovely for gifts.

We currently ship printed books anywhere in South Africa. Our digital ebook is available worldwide.

All payments are processed securely through Yoco, a South African payment provider. We never see or store your card details. Prices are in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT.

Yes — full refunds are available before we begin creating your book. Once production has started (each book is custom), refunds are no longer possible. If your printed book arrives damaged, just email us within 7 days and we'll replace it. Full details on our Terms of Service page.

We want every book to be perfect. Reply to your order completion email or contact us via the contact page and our team will review your book and make it right.

We use it only to create your storybook — nothing else. We don't sell, share or repurpose drawings. You can read the full policy on our Privacy Policy page.

Only what we need: their first name, age, and the drawing you upload. That's it. We don't collect data directly from children — everything is provided by you, the parent or guardian.

Yes. You can request deletion at any time by emailing us via the contact page. We process deletion requests within 30 days.
